Let’s be honest, this season of television was WAY better than last year’s season and, from what my research is telling me, better than the upcoming 2014-15 season as well.
My favorite new shows of the season that will be returning next year:
Reign (The CW)
This show has it all. Dashing men, a love triangle (very CW), a feisty female lead, sword fights, a sexy backdrop…all the ingredients to an addictive show! I am actually very surprised at how well this show captivates the audience and I am glad it was selected for early renewal.
Broad City (Comedy Central)
These ladies cross the line in the BEST possible way. Comedy Central did a great job with promotion for this show by airing it after their hit show, Workaholics, and honestly, I don’t think anyway knew what to expect from this show. I can honestly say I have never laughed harder than I have during this show and I was happy for the second season renewal.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Fox)
While, I admit, I found it silly that it won best new comedy at the Emmy’s and I found it to be slightly overrated, I do think this show now has the potential to become what the early years of The Office was. Andy Samberg is a personal favorite of mine and I would pretty much watch him paint a house if I could. I think if next season they continue what they are doing now, they could have a seriously awesome show that could live on for seasons to come.
Sleepy Hollow (Fox)
For those of you who followed my blog in the early months of the television season, you know that this show was an early favorite of mine. While I admit, I started getting a little confused by the later episodes of the show, I think this show really has what any great show needs to succeed. I would really like to see a more definitive plot for the next season and maybe have a little more mythology about the town’s history. Overall, this will be the perfect thing to come out in October next year!
The Originals (The CW)
Dare I say it? I like this show better than The Vampire Diaries! I was devastated to know Claire Holt effectively quit (is this actually true, someone help!) because she was such an interesting character, but I think this show really is a great addition to The CW and could be a standalone show without the popularity of The Vampire Diaries. The Mikaelson family is sexy, mysterious and COME ON, HALIJAH!!!!!
